What is an active registration?
Passcreator bills you on the number of active registrations. That is the term the dashboard uses. Older guides call the same thing an active pass, the term used before the new Passcreator interface. Both mean the same. This article explains when a registration counts.
When a registration counts
A registration becomes active the moment someone saves a pass to their phone and can receive push notifications. It stays active until one of three things happens. The holder deletes the pass from their phone, the holder turns off push notifications for it, or you remove the pass from Passcreator.
A registration still counts as active even when the pass is no longer valid. So a voided pass or one past its expiration date keeps counting, because you can still push updates to it and bring it back to life.
How platforms count
Apple Wallet and Google Wallet count differently.
- Google Wallet. One holder counts as one active registration, even across several devices.
- Apple Wallet. Each device registers on its own. If you sync passes through iCloud and own an iPhone and an Apple Watch, that counts as two active registrations.
How many passes you can create
You can create as many passes as you want. We do ask you to move to a higher plan or remove passes when the number you create reaches five times the active registrations in your plan. We contact you first and take no action before that.
